Project Description
The Sports for Smiles Project, initiated by the Rotary Club of Kathmandu, was successfully implemented on 12 May 2026 in Mahawai Rural Municipality, Kalikot District, Nepal. The project aimed to improve access to sports and recreational opportunities for children studying in remote public schools by distributing essential sports materials to 11 schools.
The initiative directly benefited approximately 2,220 students, encouraging physical activity, teamwork, leadership, and inclusive participation among children. The successful completion of the project reflects the commitment of Rotary toward promoting child development, education, and well-being in remote communities of Nepal.
The project was implemented with a total budget of NPR 432,300 covering sports materials, transportation and delivery. The project was supported by Rotary Club of Kathmandu, District Grant of 2025-26 of Rotary District 3292, and the Basic Education & Literacy Committee.
